Great News of a BIG Donation

To all members of the Kaslo Trailblazers Society and CFNKLS
We are delighted to report that the Grand 2017 Charitable Treasure Hunt, organized by CFNKLS with the support of Pennywise, has concluded with the full amount of the Treasure Fund being donated to the Kaslo Trailblazers Society. This “treasure” will be used in support of Trailblazers’ work encouraging local outdoor recreation and fitness. Trailblazers was chosen by Fiona Anderson from a list of ten local charities. Fiona found the hidden Treasure Box above the Lost Ledge campground, 30 days after the first clues were revealed to the public.
The Treasure Fund came from dedicated donations made to the fund before and during the Hunt.
In total Trailblazers received $1,158 from Fiona.

Fwd: Singletrack 6 - Course Marking and Marshalling Support needed

Hi Kaslo Friends,

We're in the final preparation phase for Singletrack 6! We are looking for a few more people to help with Course Marking and Course Marshalling for the Kaslo (and Nelson) stages.

Course Markers work in teams of two with direction from one of our marking team leaders. Each stage takes 2 days to mark, so marking starts 2 days prior to the day we are racing that stage. So the Kaslo stage will be marked on July 31-Aug 1. Course marking requires a bike and ability to spend a long day on the trail (lunch break most days), carrying marking supplies with you.

For course marking, for each day you work with us entitles you to ride a day of Singletrack 6 as a guest rider or $100!

Course marshalling is a shorter commitment, and we are looking for the following shifts in Kaslo:
Wednesday, Aug 2 - 8:15 - 9:15 - 6 people
Wednesday, Aug 2 - 9:30 - 1:30 - 4 people

Course Marshals receive a Singletrack 6 t-shirt and we will make an additional donation to local trails of $50 per 4 hours of marshalling.

If you are interested in helping, please contact Kevin McDonald at or 403-483-9977.

Please pass this onto any friends who may be able to help out!

Mt Buchanan trail work party

This Wednesday July 19 we will be heading up to Mt Buchanan lookout to do a regular annual maintenance of the 1.5km loop trail up there. For tools, long handled loppers would be great, and KTS will be providing chainsaw and brush saws. Meet at the Kaslo Community Garden for car pooling at 8:30am. There will be mosquitoes. We should be back in Kaslo by noonish but you may want to bring a lunch, and certainly drinking water as there is none available up there.

KTS work party Wednesday July 5

There will be a work party this Wednesday July 5 starting at 8am due to the summer heat. We will meet at the Wardner Viewpoint trailhead kiosk which is north 1 block on Wardner St in upper Kaslo. All tools provided. We will be building new trail at a higher elevation on Trail #5 Connector 2 so its a bit of hike in to the start location. This new trail will replace a steep section of existing trail with a more moderate grade.
