Kaslo River Trails are Open

The Kaslo River Trail south still has some flooding on the lower trails so please use the upper by-pass trails. The Lettrari Loop trail is no longer flooded. Watch for muddy sections, and be especially careful where the trail is close by the river. If the river rises again, please watch for flooding and let us know whats happening on the trails.

Thanks, and Happy Trails.

Recreation Tenure Proposals for the Purcells

Forwarded from Kootenay Mountaineering Club FB page ...

Deadline for comments May 13, 2018
I wanted to make sure everyone is aware of the two tenure proposals for the Purcells. One is for a non-mechanized operation to include ski touring and summer hiking and the other proposal is for a mechanized
tenure for heli skiing in the winter and heli mountain biking in the summer plus a few other activities. The Helicopter proposed zone surrounds Mount Loki. Time is running out to comment. Here are links to both proposals. Make sure to voice your opinion.

Enjoy some spring skiing for a maybe few more in the afternoon once its warmed....fastest in the morning cold and likely quite icy.

Name Change

As of Jan. 31, 2018 our new name will be Kaslo Outdoor Recreation and Trails Society: KORTS for short.
We are still a charitable society and can give out Charitable Donation receipts for Donations $20 or more to be used to build and maintain trails in and around Kaslo.
The name change is due to the joining of a number of clubs that use and maintain trails.
We now consist of the following former clubs:
Kaslo Trailblazers Society
Kaslo Outdoor Recreation Society
Kaslo Nordic Club
Kaslo Mountain Bike Initiative
Kaslo Kids Mountain Bike Park
